Infant Feeding Tracker

Feeding your newborn in the first days may seem like a blur. Here’s a handy chart that might help you out of general feeding guidelines. This was adapted from the AAP’s current guidelines.

If you only read one thing- read this- feed your baby on demand. No one else is better at reading your baby’s cues! Seriously! You are the best!

Also please see how there are no hard numbers here and actually some blanks. This is because every baby is different. Learn to recognize feeding cues which look like your baby leaning toward the boob (rooting) or putting her fist in her mouth. You’ve got this!

Need to know what this means in the real world?

  • 0.5 ounce is 3 teaspoons
  • 1 ounce is the size of a shot of espresso or 6 teaspoons
  • 1.5 ounces is a shot glass or serving size of liquor
  • 7.5 ounces is the size of ‘mini cans’ from Coke and Pepsi
  • 12 ounces: size of starbucks tall hot coffee, standard can of soda/beer
